| AMD Championships, the Best of the Best The AMD World Championships of custom bike building at Sturgis might not be on your radar but it probably should be. The AMD Championship has continued to bring the best builders together from not only the United States, but all over the world. This year's winner of the freestyle class was none other than Freddy "Krugger" Bertrand of Belgium. Freddy brought the title of World Champion back across the pond after the USA's Dave Cook took home the title last year. As an official partner of this event, J&P Cycles has the responsibility to pick a winner for the "partner pick of excellence" award, and in doing that uncovered a great story in itself in the form of Danny Schneider from Hardnine Choppers. Danny's take on a 1942 WLA not only caught our eye, but the judges as well taking third in the Modified Harley Davidson class.

J&P departed from its "normal" schedule of events to take in what is truly an international event. We attended the RedBull MotoGP in Indianapolis on what was the second and final stop in the United States for the internationally run series. What we were exposed to was amazing to say the least; the event drew bikes and bikers from across the country filling the world famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway as well as the downtown in the evening. We had a full schedule with AMA Endurocross on Friday and the GNC flatrack race at the Indy mile on Saturday. But the weekend's MotoGP race was the unquestioned star of the show. The Americans had a great showing with Ducati's Nicky Hayden battling handling problems (and the loss of a knee slider) still finishing 6th and young Ben Speis shocked everyone by setting the pole and finishing second while the Spaniard Danny Pedrosa grabbed the lead and ran with it for the win. With the 200 mph speeds of the straightaway to the 65 degree lean angles in the corners combined with the skill of the riders' boils down to one conclusion, these are the lightest, fastest, most technologically advanced bikes on the planet riding on the edge of insanity. If that doesn't get your blood pumping, then you're probably dead.
