Healthy and Delicious Valentine's Day Recipes

The unfortunate side of Valentine's Day is the processed, white sugar-laden "goodies" that are bad for your well-being, especially your heart. How ironic that on this day, we give the ones we love something that can close their heart, instead of!

How Cacao RecipesYour Heart

Cacao is a sacred, ancient, medicinal food of the Aztecs. The Aztecs called cacao "yollotl eztli", which translates to "heart blood". Cacao physically supports heart health with its high concentration of magnesium, omega-fatty acids, vitamin C, iron and antioxidants. Cacao also supports heart health by containing compounds called Phenylethylamines (PEAs), chemicals that we produce in our bodies when we fall deeply in love.

Recipe #1: Wild Jungle Peanut Butter Cacao Truffles

Ingredients:

jar Wild Jungle Peanut Butter
1/cup agave nectar
1/23/cup cacao powder
1/tsp vanilla powder
dash of Himalayan or Kalahari salt

In a food processor, combine all ingredients and process thoroughly. Add to a bowl. Form mixture into small balls, about 1/inch in diameter. Put in freezer for aboutminutes to set. Optional: Sprinkle cacao powder and cayenne powder on top for a spicy kick.

Recipe #2: Chocolate Cheesecake

Ingredients:

Crust:
cups shredded coconut
1/cups pitted dates
1/41/tsp Kalahari salt

Filling:
cups cashews , soaked (you can substitutecups young coconut meat or same amount pine nuts)
cup cacao butter , melted
cup water
1/cup agave nectar
1/cup lucuma powder
tsp vanilla powder
Tbsp sunflower lecithin (optional)
pinch of Kalahari Salt

Ganache:
1/cup cacao powder
1/cup cacao butter , melted
1/cup agave nectar
pinch of Kalahari salt
